Help your students build confidence, creativity, and stronger writing habits with these Intermediate Writing Journal Prompts!
Designed specifically for students in third through fifth grade, each journal page features an engaging writing prompt that gives students a meaningful opportunity to practice writing every day. The prompts are flexible enough to use during morning work, writing centers, independent writing time, homework, early-finisher activities, or as part of your regular writing instruction.
Each prompt page includes an editing checklist to encourage students to review their work for spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and other writing conventions. Prompts are also provided with or without a drawing frame, allowing you to choose the format that works best for your students.
For students who have more to say, an additional lined writing page provides extra space to continue their response. A blank journal page is also included for added flexibility.
The included student cover page makes it easy to organize the pages into a complete journal. Print the pages individually as needed or assemble them into a monthly writing journal students can use throughout the month.
These prompts are a simple, low-prep way to help students get into the routine of writing regularly while developing stronger written responses and greater independence as writers.
