Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Teaching Takes Heart collects, why we use it, and the choices available to you when you browse, create an account, purchase credits or subscriptions, or contact us.
Last updated September 11, 20261. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect your name, email address, account information, billing/contact details, order and subscription records, credit balance and transaction history, resource ownership/download history, promo activity, contact-form messages, marketing preferences, IP address, browser/device information, and site-usage information.
2. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe through WooCommerce. Teaching Takes Heart does not store your full card number on its own servers. Stripe and related payment services receive information needed to process, secure, and account for transactions.
3. How we use information
- create and maintain customer accounts;
- process orders, credits, subscriptions, renewals, refunds, and customer support;
- provide My Library and authorized downloads;
- send transactional messages such as order confirmations, password resets, account notices, and subscription information;
- protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats;
- measure and improve the site and resources; and
- send marketing emails only when you affirmatively choose to subscribe.
4. Marketing choices
Marketing email is optional. Our signup and checkout experiences use an unchecked opt-in asking whether you would like Teaching Takes Heart updates, freebies, new resources, and classroom ideas. You can unsubscribe from marketing messages using the unsubscribe link in those messages. Transactional account, order, security, and subscription emails are separate and may still be sent when needed to provide the service.
5. Transactional email engagement
Some welcome and onboarding emails use first-party redirect links so we can understand whether the links we provide are useful to new customers. For this limited measurement, we record the customer account, the type of welcome-email link clicked, and the timestamp. We do not use an email-open tracking pixel for this report and do not store IP addresses or device fingerprints as part of these welcome-email engagement records. These click events are retained for approximately 180 days.
13. Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies and similar technologies for account sessions, checkout, security, preferences, and core site functions. We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Analytics may collect device, browser, approximate location, referral, and interaction information. Browser controls and available privacy tools can be used to manage cookies; blocking essential cookies may prevent account or checkout features from working correctly.
Security and spam prevention
When enabled on registration, sign-in, checkout, password recovery, Contact, or newsletter forms, Google reCAPTCHA may receive technical and interaction information to help distinguish legitimate requests from automated abuse. Google’s privacy policy and terms apply. We also use submission limits and email-domain rules. Our separate security event log records time, the requested function, the security outcome, email domain, salted email/network identifiers, and the acting account ID when available. It does not store passwords, CAPTCHA tokens, full email addresses, raw IP addresses, or message bodies. These salted identifiers can link related security events and are not treated as anonymous data. Security events are normally retained for 30 days (an administrator may select 7–90 days); scheduled cleanup may be delayed by site activity. These security checks do not enroll you in marketing messages. Contact info@teachingtakesheart.com if a security check prevents legitimate account access.
13. Service providers
We use service providers to operate the store, including WordPress/WooCommerce technology, GoDaddy hosting/security services, Stripe payment processing, Google Workspace/WP Mail SMTP for email delivery, Google Analytics, and Mailchimp for opted-in marketing communications. We share information with providers only as reasonably needed for their services, legal obligations, security, or support.
13. Advertising technologies
We do not currently describe Meta/Facebook advertising tracking as an active production service. If advertising pixels or additional ad-tracking technologies are enabled later, we will update this policy and any required consent controls before relying on them.
13. Children
The store is intended for adults and educators age 18 or older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly ask children to create customer accounts or make purchases.
13. Data retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for customer access, accounting, tax/legal obligations, fraud prevention, dispute handling, backups, and legitimate business operations. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and hosting safeguards, but no internet system can be guaranteed completely secure.
13. Your choices
You can update many account and billing details from My Account, unsubscribe from marketing emails, and contact us with privacy questions or requests. Depending on where you live, additional privacy rights may apply; we will respond as required by applicable law.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services, providers, or legal requirements change. The current version will be posted here with a revised date.
