Wild About Addition: Single Digit Addition is designed to help beginning learners understand how addition works by using pictures, models, and carefully sequenced practice. Visual support gives students a concrete way to see addition in action before moving on to more traditional addition problems.
The included teaching guide can be used to introduce the steps for solving single digit addition problems. Two guided practice pages use pictures and models to give students additional support as they begin working through the skill with a teacher.
Once students are ready for more independent work, the packet includes 20 additional practice pages.
The first five independent practice pages continue to use pictures and models while helping students understand the relationship between horizontal and vertical addition problems. These pages provide a bridge between visual models and solving addition problems written in the standard vertical format.
The remaining 15 independent practice pages focus on vertical addition, with 25 problems on each page, giving students plenty of opportunities to build accuracy, fluency, and confidence.
Answer keys are included to make checking student work and grading easy.
All pages are provided in both color and black & white, giving you flexible printing options for your classroom.
