TEACHER-CREATED SINCE 2019
Resources created by a teacher who knows how full a teacher’s plate can be.
Teaching Takes Heart is Beth’s teacher-created business — built from real classroom experience and a simple goal: make it a little easier for teachers to find useful, engaging resources without spending their whole evening creating everything from scratch.
MEET BETH
The teacher-creator behind Teaching Takes Heart.
Beth knew she wanted to teach long before she had her own classroom. In fifth grade, she joined Teachers of Tomorrow and worked one-on-one with a first grader who was learning to read. Watching that student finally put the pieces together stuck with her — and so did the feeling that helping a child succeed was exactly where she belonged.
She earned her degree in Elementary Education in 2006 and began teaching right away. Like many teachers, that first year was a wake-up call: the theories and strategies from college mattered, but the day-to-day reality of running a classroom was something you learned by doing, asking for help, and getting better every year.
Beth continued her education while teaching and earned a Master’s in Instructional Leadership and Educational Studies with an ESL Endorsement in 2008. She is also a Golden Apple Scholar. Most of her thirteen-year classroom career was spent teaching third grade, with additional experience in kindergarten and first grade.
After her son was born, Beth made the difficult decision to step away from the classroom and stay home with him. She still wanted to stay connected to teaching, so Teaching Takes Heart became the next chapter — a place to turn years of classroom experience into resources that could help other teachers.
Her Teachers Pay Teachers store has been active since 2019, and Teaching Takes Heart continues to grow around the same teacher-first idea: practical materials, thoughtful design, and resources that respect how valuable a teacher’s time is.
A little behind-the-scenes help
Beth’s husband, Patrick, works in education and helps support Teaching Takes Heart behind the scenes with technology, operations, and the business side of keeping things moving. He holds a Master’s in School Business with a Chief School Business Official endorsement, a Master of Information Technology Management with a specialization in Cybersecurity, and is currently working toward a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a Superintendent Endorsement.
Beth remains the teacher-creator, owner, and primary voice of Teaching Takes Heart.
WHY WE MAKE RESOURCES
Because teachers already have enough on their to-do lists.
Resources should be useful without creating another project for the teacher.
Clear directions, thoughtful organization, and practical choices matter.
The goal is to support teachers and students — not add more noise to the day.
